Buen Retiro Park, one of Madrid's largest public parks, is located in the center of Madrid, near Puerta de Alcalá. The Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid is located right at the heart of Madrid built in 1755 by King Fernando III on the banks of the Manzares River. The garden was not only intended to show plants, but also to explain botany and to provide samples for the work of scientific research and the division of plant species.
